Today my friend and colleague John Thurston revealed that he has an official blog. (He has been publishing a personal web site since 1996... but he is now hosting his site with recognized blogging technology.)

I certainly don't intend to compete with John in this arena (or any other for that matter, with the possible exception of boat ownership!) But he has inspired me, and thus the birth of this blog. I have authored content in other venues, some of which will probably find its way into this blog, in order to "seed" this site and allow me to appear to be a more productive and prolific author. In other words, the order of the early entries in this blog may not exactly reflect the order in which these thoughts and commentaries germinated in my mind. But I expect to edit my earlier works carefully to reflect my current understanding, or lack thereof.

Here's to finding my voice, and expanding my community of correspondence....
