A scout subcommittee will meet at my house (519 W. 9th Street, just up the road from the federal building), at 5pm Saturday, January 20, to make plans for further work on the Computer Merit Badge.

Jake Paulke will chair this subcommittee. Brett Farrell and Larry Talley (and maybe other parents?) will share the responsibilities of merit badge counselors.

This meeting won't be about making progress on the requirements, but, we will make plans for future meetings and events.

I suggest that we consider the following:

• our curriculum needs to have multiple tracks or choices, in order to accommodate a broad range of interests and skill levels
• we should maximize scout-teaching-scout opportunities to make best use of resources, maintain student interest, and give older scouts teaching experience
• apply a spectrum of educational approaches to reach students with different learning styles
