Purpose

On March 12, 2006 a fire destroyed the Church of the Holy Trinity building in Juneau, Alaska. The building may be gone, but the church still thrives (Church of the Holy Trinity home page).

This web site provides a communication and collaboration tool for the church community while we regroup and rebuild.

Introduction

This site is a web community publishing system of a type called a wiki. Wiki-wiki is Hawaiian for very quick. A wiki has been defined as the simplest online database that could possibly work. My definition of a wiki is simple and quick web publishing.

A wiki is like an online bulleting board. You are encouraged to edit or contribute new content on this community web site. Of course we ask that you show good judgement and respect for others. Do edit this site if you have something to contribute. Please don't deface our site or post offensive content. (If you visit this site and find offensive content, please help us out by editing the page and removing anything in poor taste--and thanks!)

If you would like to learn more about using this wiki, course materials for a short introductory course are online. The course materials are presently oriented towards a classroom presentation, but, they may also be helpful for self study.

• Congregational Planning Process — The Holy Trinity community is using the Episcopal Church Building Fund's congregational planning process. This website documents our planning process for rebuilding our church.
  • Eliza Linley Workshop June 9-11, 2006 — Reverend Eliza Linley is a school friend of Hunter Silides and an Episcopal priest, architect, and teacher, and she leads retreats and workshops in ministry and the arts. The Vestry and Building Committee brought Eliza to Juneau to help us plan our process.
  • Planning Committee — Oversees process, set procedures, coordinates sub-committees, receives reports from sub-committees, reports to congregation and the Vestry. Vestry makes final decisions.
    • Architect Contractor Liason Subcommittee — Examines approaches to building, works with contractor on site prep. issues, interviews contractors and architects, recommends approaches to planning committee
